~ Workshops ~
Balloon Sculpting – a hands on class that includes a pump, balloons and small booklet to help the kids remember what we learned. We begin with the very basics of inflating and tying and then making our first bubbles. We then teach a simple 1,2,3 method of balloon making with many variations to create several animals. We then try to get the kids to make the classic 5 bubble teddy bear and if there is time remaining we’ll let them just use their imaginations to build and twist. Everyone gets to take home what they made plus the pump, booklet and some more balloons to try again another day.
Magic with everyday objects - This is a program where we learn magic tricks that use regular items found around the home so that the kids could perform them for their friends or families at anytime without requiring special materials. We’ll learn tricks that use pencils, rubber bands, paperclips, glasses, pennies and more. Materials for this class are a mix of things some they will get to keep and take home as well as some things we’ll just use in class.
Learn to Juggle – A fun and hands on class that includes a booklet and balls that the kids get to keep. We teach an 8 step proven method to learning how to juggle 3 balls. Everyone will learn how to juggle in this class they just might not be very good at it but we heavily encourage an understanding that getting good just comes with a little practice. In a 90 minute class there is time for us to try out some other juggling as well like scarves or clubs for example.
Magic with Cards – This is the class that everyone wants to take cause it’s all about card tricks (Cool Ones). We begin learning some shuffling, then a few self working tricks and finish with introducing sleight of hand. The kids will be supplied with cards and a note book of the tricks and things we learned. We also like to break from the regular deck with a few tricks that use just a special packet of cards and of course we will supply those.
~ Fun with Science ~
Exploring Science with TD Sparks & Mr. Wally Is a fun science program with a mix of live demonstrations and hands on activities. Each class will begin with a science demo and explanation followed by a class group activity or craft that corresponds to that day’s theme. We will then perform another demo followed by explanation of the days hands on stations. The last third of the class will be spent exploring the hands on stations and then we’ll finish the day with one final demonstration. Some of the themes we’ll explore are Senses, Optical Illusions, Electricity and the World around us.
